NEWEST: SLICE OF LIFE

Last night I got the horrible news that a town so close to my hometown was affected by tragic loss of a police officer. I'm not here to be a news broadcaster but, to keep it short, a 19 year old freshman at Texas Tech University was taken into custody and at the police station he shot and killed a police officer. He then ran on foot and was soon caught after. This just hit a little to close to home. Not because Lubbock is so close in distance to my hometown but because my dad is a former police officer of 22 years. All I could think about is that officer's family and my heart was broken. The thoughts sent chills up and down my spine because we really never know what God has planned out for us and how quickly someone we love can be taken away from us.

The bigger picture here is to always tell your loved how much you love and appreciate them. It does not take but 5 seconds out of your day to send an "I love you" text. With all of the ugly that is going on in today's world, nothing is more important than reminding the people closest to you how much they are loved. I also thought of how important it is to spread love and positivity every single day! We all come across bad days. I mean, I have even had a horrible week but through out the week I tried to find the positive side in every aspect. That changed my mindset and I realized that these small worries come and go. We do face larger issues but with the help, support, and love from the most important people in the world to you, nothing is impossible.

SO, never under estimate what some else is going through, always spread love and positivity, and make "I love you's" the most important part of your day!

With SO much LOVE,

  1. Saying I love you is a huge part of my life. Life is too short not to tell others how much they mean to you! This story hit home for me as well and what is crazy is that my reasoning parallel's yours. You are from where he shot, I am from the area in which he was raised. Your dad is a former officer, mine is a reserve officer and 2 of my uncles are current officers. Like you this story hit home, and hit home hard. Yet we can still spread love which can unite us if we let it!
